If you remember back in February, I summoned HAIM to come back. And boy did they listen.
On Monday, HAIM texted their community text number that they were having a listening party on Tuesday. I quickly signed up, and mid-midday Tuesday, I found out I made it on the list. On the way to the venue, they said to meet them at Blind Tiger. I was already down the street, so I made my way to the bar an hour and a half early.1
I had a feeling the bar had no idea it was happening because there were a lot of straight men in suits watching a baseball game. I was right and the bartender asked me, “Are they a big band?” and I was like “….yeah…..” LOL. From then on, I was just ready for this to be a mess. Only about 40 people eventually showed up, and it ended up being fine.
Alana was the first one to talk to me. We locked eyes and she asked if she could give me a hug (???!!!!!??!!!). Naturally, I told Alana that she needed to chop her hair off to get a bob again. She was shocked and said that everyone hated it and told her not to do it again. I then told her that she needed to be around more black people because we would have told her we love her. LOL.
Then the unthinkable happened. Danielle locked eyes with me and told me that “she was such a big fan and that she wanted to meet me because she saw my TikTok from my podcast where I said she sings like Toni Braxton…………………….So at that point, I screamed. Because that’s not even the TikTok that went viral on 6 Songs 4. So I knew she was serious. Then Este came over and gave me a hug and it seemed like she already knew me. Then we talked more and I told her that I love that she is a music supervisor and that I wanted to be one as well.
Then Terry, their creative director and photographer, took our picture, and they talked to more fans. Eventually, I was like I need my own picture, so I asked to take another one with Danielle, and she said yes, then we talked more about Toni Braxton.

Specifically about He Wasn’t Man Enough For Me and how Toni doesn’t sing the chorus. I told her that they should sing it on tour, and Este and Alana can do the background. So if that happens, it was because of me!
I told them, Terry, and their manager that I was the president of the Black Haim Stan Association and they LOVED IT. I also told Terry about Bob Watch, and he loved it LOL. He also said that I had beautiful skin, which is true. Mind you, this was all BEFORE the actual listening party.
Eventually, we walked with them in the middle of the streets of the West Village to The Cherry Lane Theater that A24 recently purchased. The theater filled up with probably around 80-100 fans. Maybe not even that many. The first two rows got exclusive T-shirts, and everyone got an exclusive poster for the event.
They didn’t play the entire album. Instead, they played all the videos from this era (there is another one coming with Will Pouter, Archie (something the one from Saltburn), and another name I didn’t recognize). The event was basically a talk moderated by Terry, and they gave insight into the inspiration behind the album concept and songs.
Needless to say the songs fucking SLAP. Y’all are not ready. They’re horny, rocky, pop-y, insightful, funny, and more. The entire thing is going to scalp me bald. They didn’t play Danielle’s favorite song, Gone, the opening track. Which I appreciated because they said they want some things to be a surprise, which y’all know I love.
At one point, Terry said that earlier he was talking to someone earlier in the night (me) who said they didn’t like NYC. They said that wasn’t true despite their lyrics on Los Angeles. Este said that she’s moving here eventually because her fiancé lives here. Which means that we are going to be besties.
The night was filled with personal anecdotes (like how they would skip school to smoke bongs and go to diners and stalk celebrities) and ended with an acoustic performance of Relationships. Truly I have no notes.
The next day, the unthinkable happened.
They.fucking.posted.me.on.their.instagram. Mind you, i’m also in two other videos in the post.
I’m still trying to comprehend why I was the only fan they posted. The answer simply is: I’m that girl! They said they loved me and this proved it. I have never felt more like a main character. I told my therapist that all of my insecurities have gone away.
So yeah, that’s the story. I am writing this from the afterlife. This is the coolest thing that has ever happened to me. The weirdest part of this entire night was that I wasn’t nervous. I always knew that I would meet them, and it honestly felt destined to happen. I have loved them for more than 10 years, and all that stanning AND MONEY paid off.
Shout out to Reilee for saying that they were buckin’ on that stage because if he hadn’t said that on our podcast, I don’t think any of this would have happened. And shout out to me for being quick as hell to sign up. I will cherish this day for the rest of my life.
All I’m gonna say is Danielle Haim said she liked my podcast, so you should be listening!!!!!! I’ve been trying to tell you it’s everything!!
They said to meet them at 8pm, and I got there at 6:30 to keep working. I am a chronically early person to events, and boy, did it pay off.
