I have been a fan of Charli XCX since 2017. I’m not even exactly sure how it happened. I knew Fancy, Boom Clap, and I Love It of course, but the song that made me want to dive deeper was Boys. I was obsessed with that video because I love so many of the men in it. Go figure. I remember thinking it was so cool that she directed that video. Naturally, I listened to more of her music this was around the focus, girl’s night out era. Eventually, Reilee told me about Sophie and Charli’s music with Sophie and the rest is history.

That being said, I don’t think Charli gets enough credit for how hard some of her songs are to sing, breath placement-wise. That girl can talk fucking fast!!!! So, with Party 4 u going viral on TikTok, I decided that I would make a list of my favorite Charli XCX rap songs. You can also listen to the playlist below. Enjoy!

Probably her best rap song if we’re being honest. This list isn’t in order but it only feels right to put it at the top. Everybody ate.² Perfection. Idk if this is an unpopular opinion but my favorite verse on this song is Charli’s. It’s so sexy. She slid on that beat and the beat got sicker. “So raw, sushi”. Get into it!!!!

Next Level Charli

I often say this may be my favorite Charli XCX song. This song is spiritual to me. To sing it is to feel seen. This is the most Leo song ever to exist³. If you get it you get it. It’s so sad yet equally beautiful. I am sure there’s a hidden duck sound in this song but my friends can’t hear it. I was trying to make a remix of this song once and noticed it. I know for a fact if I asked A.G. he would say that there is 100% a duck sound hidden in this song.

Claws

It is so unfortunate that she will probably never sing this song again. We can dream. Well, actually, Demi Lovato performed Heart Attack again after having a Heart Attack and in front of Heart Attack survivors. I respected her so much for that because if you have a song called Heart Attack. Then you have a heart attack. Then they ask you to sing at the heart attack survivor’s gala or whatever. And you don’t sing heart attack? That just doesn’t make sense.

So, by that logic, just because Charli and Huck⁴ didn’t work out doesn’t mean that she should stop singing this song. I will be the first to admit that I don’t know what happened between them and what this song means to her. But, Charli if you’re reading, if this song isn’t traumatic for you can we please get this song back on the set list again?? This song is excellent and you are rapping your ass off.

Dreamer

Once again, everybody ate!!!!! This song is so fucking hot!!! It’s a shame there are no videos from this era. This was the first time I heard about Raye. Charli has been ahead of the curve from the jump!! She’s been trying to tell y’all!

Party 4 U

The diva, the doll, the moment. So interesting to see the general public catch on to something so late. I hope they don’t ruin this song. But, this song is so good it just might be alright.

Spring Breakers

This song deserved to be sung at the Grammy’s and I stand by that. She and I will have a chat about that one day. Regardless this song is perfect. Her best song??? I don't know……We at least deserve a video, Charles. Smh.

Trophy

How has this not been used in some sort of sports fan cast? A movie trailer……… something? This song is so cinematic to me. The Vroom Vroom era was the birth of brat Charli if you think about it. Sophie, you are forever missed, my god.

No shade but Kim ate her upppppppp. If you know me I don’t give Kim anything but I have to give her her 10s. I love her verse on this song. She locked TF in. And if I said I don’t love the Slayyyter remix tbh….. I just wish Tommy Cash wasn’t on the original. Slayyyter’s voice is cute but I don’t like the way they changed the production for her verse. Either way, it’s history.

I mean come on. Arguably her most popular song (besides the 3 hits from10 years ago) before Brat. She’s rapping her ass off. How have people not realized that she is a rapper?!!!! M.I.A couldn’t deny that Charli is her son if she tried. This is M.I.A booooottzzzz and it’s so good. Someone has got to do it since M.I.A is determined to fuck up her legacy. Also, I recently realized that when she wrote Apple, she wasn’t talking about her biological parents, she was talking about M.I.A. How sad.

5 In The Morning

I don’t know what the hell Charli was on this day but god damn it she stepped in that studio and said I’m gonna make history, and that’s what this is. I randomly remembered this song the other day and have been bopping it ever since. That bob was whispering in her ear and telling her to channel her mother M.I.A.

This song scratches an itch in my brain. Miles ahead of the original in my opinion. Mind you the lyrics are so fucking relatable. “I pay for everything myself” “360 find a way to deal” My god. Y’all don’t hear me you just wanna dance!

I got it the first time! I don’t really understand how people don’t like it. It is very European. I think it’s excellent. And if I said I only play this version……..

Girl, so confusing

We all know Lorde ate her up but Charli did her thing too. Her flow in her verse was cute! Lolllll. One of the best things to happen to pop music in the last 5 years. This song is so important. More importantly, they were both rapping. If you think about it the original is sort of a diss. Not like actually but in the realm of this being a rap song kinda. Either way, it’s historic that they worked it out on the remix.

Hot In It

I forgot about this one ngl…… However, that doesn’t mean it’s not good. She was rapping her ass off on this song. This song is good and deserves to be remembered. A Club Classic.
