The year is 2009. Boom Boom Pow is all over the airwaves. Fergie has returned from her legendary solo era. All is right in the world. If you know me you know that I am a Fergie stan. I have talked about her at length on my Podcast, 6 Songs 4. She is one of my favorite people in the cultural zeitgeist, and I will never turn my back on her.
It is no secret that everything is shit right now. Everyone knows Fergie was the best part of the Black Eyed Peas. I believe that everything went wrong when Fergie left the Black Eyed Peas.
Let’s look at the facts. Fergie officially left the Black Eyed Peas in 2017. You know what else happened in 2017? Trump became president. I’m telling you something shifted.
With Imma Be going viral on TikTok, it has the public longing for a simpler time. A time when you could turn on the radio and you could hear multiple Fergie hits. The moment Fergie stopped making music that everyone loved was the beginning of the end.1
While I would love for a new solo Fergie era, I think the public only likes her with the Black Eyed Peas. Besides her legendary album The Dutchess, people don’t check for Fergie’s solo music. I actually liked the Double Duchess! You already Know and Like it Ain’t Nuttin’ are bops, and I stand by that! Milf $ is hilarious as well.
The world wants to like Fergie. No one is denying her impact. She taught an entire generation how to spell Glamorous! For years, Fergie has been shamed out of the limelight after her unfortunate National Anthem performance. Which I still maintain to this day is incredible. It’s Jazz people!!!!
As I was writing this, Fergie released a new music video London Bridge with Meg Stalter to promote the new Lena Dunam show, Too Much. I will be watching!
While this is cute and crazy that it’s been 20 years since London Bridge, I’m gonna need more Fergie. Whether it’s a reunion with the Black Eyed Peas or a new solo album, I think the world is ready. With the right writers and producers anything is possible.
The Black Eyed Peas have continued making music without Fergie. Just substituting different female musicians for the Fergie spot. I love Shakira, but you can’t outdo the doer.
The Black Eyed Peas are historic because of their string of hits. However, their albums in full are underwhelming at best and terrible at worst. That being said, I think if they came back with an 8 song project with Fergie it would go #1. America needs a feel good group to bring back hope. The Black Eyed Peas music is so specific. It sounds and feels like it was made for the club and parties. The leaders of recession pop.
We all know that we are in a recession and about to be in a depression any minute now. We need the Black Eyed Peas to do their big one and get Fergie back so we can have SOMETHING to soundtrack the end of the world.
If you wanna hear me and my best friend discuss my love for Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas on our Podcast, listen or watch 6 Songs 4: Fools!
Not to be confused with the BEP albums The E.n.d. and The Beginning.
Justice for Double Dutchess!!!
