Where is the Michelle Williams x (White) Michelle Williams Interview?
Interview Magazine pick up the phone!!
Disclaimer: I will always refer to Michelle Williams (Singer) as just Michelle Williams and Michelle Williams (White, Actress) as White Michelle Williams because acting is amazing, but she didn’t sing in Destiny’s Child! Let’s be very serious here. Michelle Williams invented bridges! The Black Michelle Williams is more iconic, so she gets the name without the distinction! Sorry, not sorry! I love White Michelle Williams, though, so not too much on her!
Dear Interview Magazine,
Ever since I found out there was a white lady named Michelle Williams, I have been obsessed with the concept of them interviewing each other for Interview Magazine. If you are unfamiliar with Interview Magazine, it was founded by Andy Warhol and features interviews done by celebrities for celebrities. It’s also huge and obnoxious in a good way.
The fact that Michelle Williams and White Michelle Williams have never interviewed each other for Interview Magazine is a crime. I understand that they probably weren’t promoting things at the same time. Or logistical concerns, or a lack of common interest beyond the name.
However, Michelle Williams is currently on Broadway in Death Becomes Her, and White Michelle Williams just released the incredible show Dying for Sex on Hulu via FX. The timing could not be more perfect. They recently met for the first time backstage at Death Becomes Her. People kept sending Michelle Williams pictures of the White Michelle Williams, and she was making hilarious videos about it. Finally, in a huge pop culture full circle moment, they got to meet and laugh about the years of mix-ups.

If I had any sort of notoriety, this would have happened by now. I made a TikTok about it, and Interview Magazine commented on it.
However, I know that the social teams for magazines and the editorial teams may not be as connected as we think. Which explains why I have yet to see a video go live.
This would not only satisfy my personal needs, but an interview between the two of them would be a huge moment for pop culture. We need this interview for the girls! We need this for culture!! We need it for history!
I want to know what both Michelle’s thoughts are about Death and Sex. I want to know if they have any funny stories about people getting them confused. I want to know the origins of why they were both named Michelle. I want to know if there is any relation (imagine omg). There is so much meat here and yet this is an opportunity that is not being taken advantage of. Above all else, it would be hilarious!
Interview Magazine, if you’re out there in the Substack interwebs, please hear my plea! The culture needs you.
Signed,
A desperate fan
