Flo Milli Concert
I got to see Flo Milli last week and she was so good! I was really impressed with her stage presence and performance. The mic was awn! Some people may view her background screen as cheap and tacky, but I actually really enjoyed it! She didn’t have any dancers, but the room was half full, so I think that is a matter of not being able to afford them. The show was downgraded from Terminal 5 to Brooklyn Steel and that’s a shame because it was so much fun. You wouldn’t have been able to tell that the room was half full by the energy in the room. Everyone there was having the time of their life I can say that for certain. She sang with the track, but you could clearly hear her saying every single word. Every time she said “Flo Milli Shit” I lost it. I just love her. Also, Maiya the Don was really great! Everyone should check her out!
She did bring out this person named Chinese Kitty in the middle of her set, and I just know she paid a pretty penny to be able to perform 3 songs in the middle of Flo Milli’s set. I can’t say I knew any of the songs, but I can tell you that I will never forget how big her ass was as long as I live. At one point she turned around and jumped and I audibly gasped. There is a picture of her down below. You have to see it to believe it. If you don’t think it’s that big just know that it looked even bigger in person and her pants couldn’t even go up all of her butt.
Flo Milli’s set was great because I love so many of her songs. That concert was really me just queening out. She is so cunt and so bratty and one of my favorite rappers. I think her use of samples are smarter and more interesting than others. Her bars are some of the most hilarious bars in rap music right now. I just feel that Flo Milli is very underrated in terms of people recognizing she has actual talent and isn’t just a one hit wonder. I hope the next time she goes on tour more people come because I will be there! Enjoy some pics from that night :)

Vulfpeck Concert
For the day ones out there, you know that Vulfeck is one of my favorite bands. They have a very big cult following in Brooklyn. They make funk-popish music that is very clearly inspired by Black musicians. So, it is a little weird that most of their fans (at the concerts) are white straight couples. But that’s okay because their music is really good, and I am used to holding it down for the black people at PWC (predominately white concerts). The boys had a 4 day, 8 show residency at the Avant Gardner in Bushwick.
I had never been to that venue, but I hate that venue and hope to not go there again. Okay that is dramatic, but the experience to get into the concert was so weird. We got our IDs and bags checked and stamped in one section. Then they made us go up to this counter to get wristbands that you had to load money on to purchase anything in the venue. Then we eventually got our tickets scanned and had to walk OUTSIDE down the street a little bit to go to the actual concert venue. That was entirely too much.
These concerts were Vulfpeck’s first concerts since their show at MSG in 2019. It was cool for me and Reilee because we were at that MSG show and we were at the first night (and second performance) of their residency. They have released a good amount of music since then, so I was wondering what the set list was going to look like. I was not disappointed! They had a different set list for all 8 shows which is so cool and very impressive. They also pulled band members names out of a hat and those people had to play a song that they pulled with the instrument that they knew how to play. That was such a cool way to make sure that every night has something unique happen.
We got Joey and Cory singing 1612 which was honestly really good. It’s an impossible task to live up to Antwaun and everyone, including Joey, knew it. They didn’t do too many of the old songs that I was honestly fine with that. When they were singing Animal Spirits the general vibe in the room was that everyone was over that song. It’s a great song but it’s been nearly 10 years, I think we get it. Back Pocket, however, will never get old and I love that song forever. My favorite part was when they played Kuhmilch 74 BPM, a song that they do not play live very often and is one of my favorites. Completely took me by surprise.
Another part that I loved was when Jacob Jeffries sang How Much Do You Love Me? Absolutely incredible. I loved their matching sauna outfits. They always kind of dress like each other normally, so it was fun to see them actually all dressed alike. There were a lot of people in the audience (men and women) that were also wearing the sauna outfit. It was borderline cringey but ultimately, I thought it was cute that everyone had the robes on. The vibes were very good in the crowd. I have only had good experiences with the crowds at Vulfpeck shows. Which is saying something because like I said it’s mostly white people. These are my boys for life, and I was so happy to see them again. When the concert started, I actually got really emotional because I had actually missed going to their concerts and singing these songs. For the last 6 or 7 years stanning them with my friend Reilee has been one of the greatest joys of my life and I am so glad that we got to continue our tradition of seeing Vulfpeck together any time they are in town. Until next time boys x

Grammy Nominations
The Grammy Nominations are out! And honestly, SZA better sweep this time or i’m pulling up to the Academy for real this time. Padam Padam needs to win over Rush. I am so sorry Troye but it’s true. I told y’all about Ghost in the Machine!!!! I know a Grammy worthy song when I hear one! I am so happy for Victoria Monet, Coco Jones, and Ice Spice. Black girls are really out here this year! Sad there was nothing for Sabrina Carpenter though…….it’s okay there is always next time.
I want SZA to win Album of the Year, but I think the girls may be underestimating how much the academy loves Jon Baptiste. I can’t say I’ve ever listened to his music but clearly, he is talented. Song of the Year needs to go to SZA for Kill Bill I am so serious. I hope Taylor gets nothing. She doesn’t deserve it no shade. It would be so cunt if Kelly Clarkson got the award for Best Pop Vocal album. Honestly, that category is stacked I feel like it’s going to Taylor. I could see a case for most of the albums in that category except Ed Sheeran. MY winner would actually be Endless Summer Vacation. We’ll see if Miley even shows up to the ceremony. Paramore better win for Best Rock Album. I want Lana to win something honestly. I didn’t listen to the album, but I want my Lana stans to have that.
Its NO shade to everyone in the R&B Categories but these all should be SZA’s i’m so serious. She deserves them all! Kill Bill and Snooze were everywhere!!!! I don’t care what people say, I liked SOS and yes, I do listen to most of the album! However, I could see Victoria Monet walking away with Best R&B album. The Hillbillies are winning Best Rap Performance. I have not heard a single Boy Genius song, but I consider myself a fan by association. I know all of the lore between all the girls and everything that’s going on. But I cannot listen to them. I just know I will become a very feral and sad and just intense version of myself, and I am not ready for all of that yet. I will let everyone know when I am ready. Either way too many of my girls are nominated this year for me to be angry so please don’t piss me off Academy!!!
Pricilla x The Jacob Elordi Renaissance
I have to briefly mention that I saw Pricilla and I loved it. I was not expecting to like it at all. The truth is Jacob Elordi’s performance of Elvis was better than Austin Butlers and I can’t believe I am saying that either. It just felt more natural and less like a costume. He has been having some really funny quotes recently and I have been loving learning that he is kind of weird. Men need to be funnier more often and not pissing me off.
I haven’t read the story yet but, his GQ photos sparked something in me, and I have to thank GQ for that. I am seeing Saltburn this weekend and just know that I will be aroused for that entire movie. I am also seeing the new Hunger Games movie tonight so be prepared for me to not stop talking about it.
This is my letterboxd account if you wanna follow me :)
New Music
I wanted to mention the music that i’ve been listening to and that is on my radar:
Pink Pantheress - Her album Heaven Knows is so good and I am so proud of her. You can hear her growth as an artist and a songwriter on this album. From track 1 I knew that it was going to be a classic in my rotation.
Andre 3000 - He announced that he is releasing an album this Friday that’s only instrumental. I personally am fine with that because I like instrumental music and trust him as an artist so I feel like I will like this project. I like that he is not forcing himself to rap if he is not feeling called to. A lot of people don’t understand that true creativity is a lot of times involuntary. Sometimes it just comes to you, and it doesn’t feel good to be creating when your heart isn’t all the way in it. That is why people need to stop pressuring Rihanna to make her album because why would we want an album that was rushed because everyone was impatient? I want something that has been seasoned and is intentional. I appreciate it when an artist has a departure album. It signifies their willingness to grow as a person and an artist. Also, to risk putting out an album that you’re not sure if people will like or appreciate is really cool.
The Lemon Twigs - Everything Harmony - This album came out of left field for me to be honest. My friend Reilee recommended their song Any Time of Day to me because he knew that I would love it. He was right and I quickly became obsessed. Yesterday, I decided to listen to the entire album Everything Harmony and it has been on constant repeat (no Charli) ever since. The Harmonies in this album are so satisfying. The songs sound like they could have been recorded in 1975 but they came out this year. I think that’s my favorite thing about The Lemon Twigs. Their ohmage to the 70s just makes me happy. The lyrics are so sad but are juxtaposed with the sound of the songs. I love when songs are sad, but they don’t sound like it. If you know me the 70s are my favorite decade of culture so this is right up my ally. Check them out if you’re curious and need a palate cleanser. I have to see them if they ever come to New York.
Lastly
That’s all for now! Stay tuned for my Britney Book Review coming out soon!
listen to boygenius god damn it
Glad you liked Pink P’s album 💕
