As I am debriefing with friends after a showing of the new Alexander Skarsgard movie, Pillion, imagine my surprise when I get a series of texts all linking to this post:

Beyoncé has debuted a new bob! She has worn bobs before many times, but this one feels…different.

For starters, this bob is very blunt. Very reminiscent of Kelly Rowland’s recent bob era.

The reason I am taking this as more than a tribute to Kelly for her recent birthday is the timing. Beyoncé is known for posting at the most random times of day. Many of us are victims of the past midnight post. However, as she is gearing up to start the era of Act III, I can’t help but wonder if this bob is signaling something?

The last time she had a bob that I can think of was to promote her whisky, Sir Davis

This bob was big, blonde, and beautiful, but seemingly only for promotion. Another promotional bob was this one from GQ that I am not the biggest fan of.

It just looks so stiff, I don’t like it. Luckily, it was just for editorial, and in the grand scheme of things, not that many people saw it.

Which is why this bob feels different. You can’t tell that much from the post, but she wore this to the superbowl where she was skillfully not photographed besides this blurry video.

Interestingly enough, now that I watch it again, I can tell she has a bob. I wonder how this person got away with taking this video and posting it.

If Act III truly is rock, then I wonder how the bob plays into it. I can’t think of many rockstars who have had short hair, much less a bob. But maybe it has nothing to do with it at all. She could have just talked to Kelly about it, and Kelly liked it so much she wanted to try it out. Either way, her comments are in a frenzy.

Truthfully, I wish the bob wasn’t so blunt and had a little bit more shape and movement. But I will need to see a clearer video to give a final judgement. Regardless, this gagged me, and I hope she keeps this for a while and tries out different bobs and different styles. Welcome (back) to Bob Life Beyoncé!
